Upcoming Cars In The Indian Market: 2025 (Top 10)

The 2025 car market has been extremely busy with some awesome new cars and some important facelifts and new generations. Here are some of the upcoming cars that are supposed to launch in the second half of 2025 or early 2026.

1: Maruti Suzuki Victoris

  • Has already been publicly unveiled.
  • Bookings are already open for 11,000 INR.
  • The launch is in October.

Victoris is Maruti Suzuki’s Creta rival. While they already offer the Toyota co-developed Grand Vitara, the Victoris is going to be sold from the Arena network and not the Nexa network. Victoris gets a Strong Hybrid option just like the Grand Vitara, and also comes with CNG as an option. Maruti Suzuki claims it is the most fuel efficient car in it’s segment, and it likely is.

Victoris is likely going to be slightly cheaper than the Grand Vitara. Arena network cars are supposed to be more affordable than the Nexa, so that’s not a surprise. Victoris has scored 5 Stars in Bharat NCAP crash test before the launch itself, which takes away the stereotypical reputation of Maruti Suzuki cars being unsafe, Great!

2: Tata Punch Facelift

It’s the best selling car of 2024, with over 2 lakh units sold- surpassing the giants (in the sales context) like the WagonR, Baleno, Creta etc. But recently, Punch has slowly went out of the Monthly Top 10 best selling list and one reason for that could be that it looks and feels a bit dated now. There hasn’t been a proper facelift since it’s launch in 2021. The Punch facelift will likely share it’s features from the Altroz facelift.

It has a new exterior design, new Alloy wheels, and maybe a connected tail light- which seem to be the common pattern now. It also has new LED projector headlamps, a 10.25″ infotainment display, and a 360° camera. It features a new digital instrument cluster, with the illuminated Tata logo. There’s also a new 2-spoke style steering, and likely 6 Airbags as standard.

This would increase the appeal of the Punch even more, although it will mechanically be mostly unchanged. So the same 1.2 Liter 3-cylinder Revotron engine. Still, we will probably see no other engine option. The suspension would mostly also be the same, and the chassis too.

We think it’s high time we see a new engine option for the Punch, because in many ways the Altroz still remains the better car of the two. The Punch facelift is set to launch in October 2025, but there’s no confirmation yet.

3: Mahindra Thar Facelift

The facelift to Mahindra’s one of the most stand-out SUVs. After the launch of the TharROXX last year, the 3 door Thar has kind of felt bland and unexciting.

Primarily because of it’s design, feature list, and usability issues (stiff suspension being one of them) and format issues like the back seat access and insufficient boot space which can’t be fixed, because it’s sub 4 metre.

This facelift could very well bring most of the features from the ROXX like the new LED projector headlamps, the premium interiors, the 360° Camera etc, maybe ADAS. We’re also hoping some form of suspension upgrade and the new platform from the ROXX to the regular, 3 door Thar, because the ROXX made the Thar feel outdated, especially on-road. The engine options will likely remain unchanged, but Mahindra is great at surprising the audience, which also makes their launches less predictable.

Definitely keep an eye out for the new Thar.

4: Tata Sierra

Tata’s elegant queen from the 90s, is coming back in a new personality. It has been seen in the camo testing more times than I can possibly count.

It feels like it has been a long time since it was first unveiled, the news have been all over the place but Tata still hasn’t given us a fixed launch time. According to the leaks, it is expected to launch around the festive season, hopefully October 2025.

The EV will launch first, and the Petrol and Diesel Sierra will launch in early 2026 according to rumours. We have seen with the Curvv that Tata prioritises launching the EV first after launching the Harrier EV, which is quite a huge leap forward from older Tata EVs.

The Sierra could be just as impressive, if not more. It is supposed to come in both ICE (Petrol, Diesel) and Electric options.

The Diesel will likely have the same 2.0L FIAT’s Multijet 2.0 engine that we’ve seen in the Harrier and the Safari. This Diesel engine produces 170 horsepower and 350Nm torque in those cars, and likely will be the same for the Sierra as well. Tata also showcased their new 1.5L 4 cylinder Turbo Petrol GDI (Gasoline Direct Injection) engine with the Sierra which could later make it’s way to the Harrier and the Safari as well. It’s expected to produce 170 horsepower and 280Nm torque.

Tata’s engines in the past haven’t had a great reputation, they’ve been known for being noisy, more vibrations than the competition and questionable reliability. We’ll have to see what Tata does different with the new 1.5L GDI, now that it’s finally a 4cylinder unit, though it’s still hard to believe such huge SUVs will only have a 1.5L engine, when cars like XUV 700 have 2.0L Petrol engines.

Sierra EV will likely carry forward similar motor and battery packs (60-79kWh) from the Harrier EV, although it isn’t officially confirmed by Tata yet, and possibly have both single and dual motor options, like the Harrier. Sierra has a soft spot in many people’s hearts, and I hope it turns out to be an impressive car.

Hopefully, Tata’s new 1.5L Petrol TGDI engine turns out to be a leap forward from the older engines, finger crossed!

5: Hyundai Venue (New Gen)

Hyundai’s rather more popular and yet rather silent product is about to get a new generation. The Venue has been sort of out of chatter for a while now, while it’s sibling the Kia Sonet has constantly been receiving attention (for good reasons) and is known for it’s sophisticated and premium interiors, feature list and driving pleasure.

Venue facelift is likely going to have major design changes both on the outside and on the inside. It is rumoured that it may have a front design inspired from the new Creta, which makes sense because they would want to have a design identity among products.

Creta sells in great numbers, so the Venue looking like the Creta could turn out to be good for the Venue’s sales as well, Also, expect to see Sonet’s features in the Venue, and perhaps even more like ADAS level 2 (not confirmed yet).

Venue will likely carry forward the existing engine options, the base 1.2L 4cyl NA Petrol, the 1.0L Turbo GDI, and the 1.5L Turbo Diesel

(Yes, Hyundai is still continuing the Diesel)

Expected launch: Festive season, probably in October 2025. However, there is moderate possibility of delay.

6: Skoda Octavia vRS

Skoda Octavia vRS was unveiled at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025, and it’s a driver’s delight.

Enthusiasts have been eagerly waiting for this launch!

It’s expected to launch in late 2025, although it was earlier expected in July-August, which means there’s a chance it might be delayed again to 2026.

This Octavia vRS will feature the 2.0L Turbo Petrol engine that we know and love!

It produces 265bhp and 370Nm torque, and a 7 speed DSG gearbox. We have seen this combination before, and it’s no doubt that this is a very capable engine and transmission combo. This machine can do 0-100 in just 6.4 seconds. It has a top speed of 250kmph, although it can do even more but many VW group cars are electronically capped at 250kmph.

The real deal with the vRS is the handling, which means it would have a stiffer suspension, a more “direct-steering” and for sure have visual elements, red and black highlights to symbolise it’s a vRS. It’s supposed to be priced in or around the 50 lakh range (ex showroom) some expect as low as 45lakhs.

This isn’t too far off from the Kodiaq or Tiguan R Line, but it will likely be a CBU import, so the pricing could go either way.

It might just be a better buy for those who are looking for fun and the Octavia lovers who know and appreciate the Octavia for what it is and what it does, like me and you!

It will be practical, it will be fun, and Octavia is also known for feeling premium inside the cabin. It’s a win-win for the consumers!

7: Volkswagen Tera (The Kylaq Sibling)

Skoda Kylaq has turned out to be a successful product for Skoda, they’ve finally figured out the formula. Kylaq improves on the comfort part which was lacking in the Kushaq and Taigun, and is just as fun to drive with it’s chassis and suspension and the 1.0L TSI engine.

Volkswagen is also set to launch their version of the Kylaq, the name isn’t confirmed yet but the name that’s circling back and forth over social media is the Tera.

  • It will be sub 4 metre like the Kylaq.
  • Featuring the same 1.0L TSI Turbo Petrol.
  • Producing 114 bhp and 178Nm torque.
  • With a 6 speed Manual and a Torque Converter Automatic transmission options.

Ground clearance should be close to 190mm just like the Kylaq, similar feature list and still may not have features like 360° camera, but it’s fine. It should have ventilated seats, a large boot 440+ litres, probably a narrow cabin like the Kylaq which means it’ll be great for 4 people but may not be as good for 5 people.

The pricing should start from 9 Lakhs ex showroom, and could go as high as 15 Lakhs.

Expected launch: Late 2025 or early 2026.

8: Maruti Suzuki e Vitara (& Toyota Urban Cruiser EV)

The EV siblings from the japanese giants, they were first unveiled in early 2025, and were supposed to launch in the first half of 2025. But due to some internal delays, that couldn’t happen.

As of now, the expected launch is still unknown. First, they’ll launch the Victoris, which is in many ways is just a ICE version of the E Vitara.

The Suzuki e Vitara is unlike any Suzuki we have in India, it feels premium in many ways (by Suzuki standards). It will likely come in two different battery packs and power setups.

  • 49 kWh battery pack.
  • 142 bhp and 192.5 Nm torque.
  • 61 kWh battery pack.
  • 172 bhp and 192.5 Nm torque.

The expected range is 500km+ from the 61kWh battery pack, and the charging is supposed to be 7kW AC, with up to 70kW DC fast charging. In India, we’ll only get the single motor, front wheel drive (FWD) e Vitara. International markets are supposed to get both Single Motor and an extra Dual Motor option.

It will likely go up against the Hyundai Creta Electric, and maybe even against the base models of the Mahindra BE 6, though the BE 6 targets a totally different audience. It’s good to see the Japanese manufacturers entering the EV market and not just restricting themselves to hybrids.

9: Renault Duster (ALL NEW)

YES, the OG Duster is coming back, and it has been in the news for years. But finally, it has been confirmed by Renault themselves!

They have just launched the facelift Kiger and Triber, and the next product will the Duster!

The New Duster will look totally different from the old one, and it will likely launch in early 2026. It’s unclear what will be the engines and features exactly, but the international Duster offers a 1.0L Turbo Petrol, 1.2L Hybrid and a 1.6L Hybrid. We don’t know what’ll come to India yet.

As for features, it’ll have ADAS, digital Infotainment and Instrument cluster, wireless charger, 3 spoke flat bottom-top steering, etc. It’ll have a totally different exterior and interior design, and it will look very striking, something that French manufacturers are good at, since they don’t go with the ‘traditional design’ DNA.

Fans are excited for the new Duster but I would highly suggest keeping the expectations in check, because the market has drastically changed over the years while the Duster wasn’t there. Will Renault find a spot in the Creta segment by actual engineering and not just nostalgia? We’ll have to wait and see.

10: VinFast

Yes, VinFast has already launched their VF6 and VF7 in September. The VinFast is a Vietnamese manufacturer, known for their Electric vehicles, they’re aiming to build their network in India. There is A LOT of hype among the enthusiasts for VinFast as their VF is quite M. (Value for money).

The VF7 comes with upto 70.8Kwh battery, which is HUGE, 19″ wheels, ADAS level 2, a nice and generous Infotainment display, cool design, and it starts at just ₹20.89 Lakhs, goes up to ₹25.49lakhs ex showroom.

The base models come with 130kW power and 250Nm torque, Front Wheel Drive (FWD).

It goes from 0-100 in 10-11 seconds. (Source – VinFast India official)

The top models come with 260kW power, and 500Nm torque, all Wheel Drive and upto 510Km of range (AWD).

There’s also the VF6, a more family car, comes with the 130kW power and 250Nm for the base models, which starts at 16 lakhs Ex-Showroom, the top model gets 150kW and 310Nm- so not too fast, but not slow either, honestly. No doubt, people are excited for VinFast’s expansion in the country, hopefully they make great cars for India, and also expand and succeed in the Indian market.

Watch out for VinFast’s future plans!

Conclusion

That’s about it for this list. There are more concept cars that are going to launch in mid 2026 and early 2027, but it seemed irrelevant to talk about such concepts right now without proper information.
